About TMJ Therapy

Your temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is the place where your jaw connects to your skull to allow you to open and close your jaw smoothly. Sometimes, the temporomandibular joint is injured or damaged, resulting in a painful condition known as temporomandibular joint dysfunction or disorder (TMD).

What Are the Benefits of TMJ Therapy?

  • Lessening jaw, neck, and facial pain
  • Minimizing headaches
  • Decreasing clicking and/or popping in the jaw
  • Cutting down the risk of tooth damage associated with grinding
  • Improving jaw mobility
  • Repairing the function and appearance of your teeth
  • Easier eating and chewing
  • Better sleep

What to Expect

To help diagnose a temporomandibular dysfunction at Diamond Dentistry, your dentist will carefully listen to your concerns prior to performing a mouth examination. Your TMJ therapy will be provided based on the severity of the issue, but some choices include oral appliances (mouth or night guards), bite adjustment, orthodontics, or dental restorations.
