Periodontal (gum) disease is a condition of inflammation in the gums, which may result in critical damage to your mouth. There are several stages of gum disease, ranging from mild to severe. The first stage is gingivitis, followed by periodontitis, and then advanced periodontitis which can cause teeth to become loose or fall out.
